Zach Weinberg

STATEMENT

As an artist I am given the opportunity to work in a career without rules and boundaries. My artwork is purely intuitive, surfacing from my soul. Although one may find recognizable forms within my work, most likely they are not identifiable. I am an abstract expressionist. I find inspiration in the nature surrounding me and I interpret my subconscious past and future into forms of beauty.

I create fine as well as functional art. I enjoy creating furniture, expanding on and going beyond the everyday concepts of home decor. From a lamp to a 20 foot site specific sculpture, no project is too big or too small.

Custom pieces for custom places are my specialty, both inside and outside the home. Talk to me. I am easy and fun to work with, and look forward to any ideas you may have.

BIOGRAPHY

Zach Weinberg was born in Staten Island, NY in 1970. He was first introduced to ironwork in 1985 while attending Putney School, in Putney VT. He Immediately embraced the fiery process of working steel, and established a strong connection to the medium as an artform.

At the age of 18 he moved to the Pacific Northwest and began gathering his own welding equipment and various metal working tools. Working out of any space he could find, he searched the scrapyards for materials, and began making his career as an artist.

After a couple of years, Zach enrolled at Bard College in Annandale, NY as a metal sculpture major. As his skills increased, his personal artistic style flourished.

Upon graduation in 1994, Zach moved up to Vermont. He began building his house and studio from a derelict barn in Westminster West, which is now the home of Firecicle Studio. Over the past 11 years, his work has been displayed throughout the east coast. Zach is recognized as one of the premiere emerging metal artists of the new millenium.
